| Fashion Design Certificate |
The Fashion Design certificate program provides an in-depth study of the skills and knowledge required for many careers. Students must complete all 19 units of core courses with a grade point average of 2.0 for the 55 units required for the certificate. A minimum of 12 units must be completed at Long Beach City College.

| Fashion Merchandising Certificate |
Students must complete all 18.5 units of core courses with at least a "C" and have a 2.5 grade point average for the 45 units required for the certificate. A minimum of 12 units must be completed a Long Beach City College.

| Applying for a Certificate |
Certificate applications may be obtained from the Admissions and Records Office. Certificates are awarded at the annual commencement ceremony.

| Articulation Agreements |
Articulation helps you advance from one course, program or educational level to the next without loss of time and resources, and without unnecessary repetition of similar courses.
The Family and Consumer Studies Division has formal articulation agreements with local high schools, regional occupational programs and many four-year colleges and universities vary greatly depending on the type of programs offered. Clothing Construction and ROP Fashion Merchandising are articulated with a number of local high schools. Check with the School and College Relations office, (562) 938-4469, to find out which schools have articulated courses.

| Associate in Arts Degree |
Students planning to receive an Associate in Arts Degree in Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising should refer to the latest college catalog for specific requirements. One requirement is completion of 18-20 units in a major discipline. It is recommended that you select the 18-20 units from courses identified with a (+) on curriculum guides available in the counseling office, for either the Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising certificate, depending upon you major area of concentration.

| Transfer |
Specific requirements for a bachelor's degree will vary depending on the college or university to which you plan to transfer. It is highly recommended that you refer to the requirements list in the Long Beach City College catalog and specific requirements listed in the catalog of the college from which you plan to receive your degree. All Long Beach City College courses numbered below 100 are transferable to four-year colleges.

| Student Activity |
Students are encouraged to join the Fashion Network. Participation provides an excellent opportunity to meet practicing professionals, explore career paths and develop leadership skills. The club promotes activities such as fashion shows, field trips, guest speakers and scholarships as well as educational and career opportunities.
